December 2013 Meeting

In the December meeting, the budget was adopted, perhaps the most notable item in the budget is that the amount of wages budgeted from TAX PAYER dollars went down!
There was no wage increase for the rank and file, which WILL NOT effect the level of service to the Weber County residents.
There is some spending....  The building project is moving forward.  This will be a $700,000 plus building/addition to house the chemicals, winter storage for the equipment, work space and an indoor facility to raise the fish that are placed through out the County to help control the mosquito population.
The next meeting is in January, and should be on the second Monday of the month, this is a public meeting and you are welcome to attend.  It starts at 6:00 PM at the building on West 12th. St.
Should you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,
Toby Mileski

November Meeting!! Wage Increase?

This is a budget meeting!  Agenda can be viewed... http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/6697339/mos11-agenda-pdf-351k?da=y

Perhaps the biggest item on the agenda is the requested wage increase.
The employees of the district are asking for .... a 3% wage increase
along with a 5% merit / step raise that could take effect anywhere from 12- to 24 months.
At least that was the discussion from the previous meeting.

Also on the agenda is the 2014 Tentative Budget...  We will discus all the other items.
I will bring up the full-time pilot along with the seasonal employment issue vs. full-time and overtime payments that we currently have now.

Here are the minutes from the previous meeting.

By-laws will also be covered.
I have attached a copy of the provisions/revisions/suggestions.

There is not a significant change in wages other than the amount the residents of Weber County are saving by having a new director.
The Comp time is being addressed in the NEW policy and proceedures manual.
I still think that this will need to be addressed in the upcoming meetings.  Now that I have a copy of the
proposed budget, and soon a rough draft of the manual, I can go to work on research and present my
  findings at the August meeting.
This will also include a discussion of the full time pilot.
There is an increase of $25,000 for vehicle repairs for the fogger pump upgrades.
A $5,000 increase for the plane to replace the cylinders.
$25,000 more for chemicals - due to rising prices.

The building project is moving forward.  The new building will house all equipment and a fish hatchery, this will make the District self-sustaining.
